Wan Jamila Wan Shaiful Bahri, known professionally as artjamila®, is an award-winning savant artist known nationally and internationally. Artjamila was born in 2002 in Kuala Lumpur. She started drawing as a tool for communication in 2006 at the age of 4 and became an artist at 14 years old.
Her highest achievement is being appointed by a foundation focusing on “Impact investments and sustainability” from Switzerland as their IMPACT ARTIST 2020-2022. Her IMPACT ARTS on fish mosaic and her Sea Pollution series are displayed at the company’s website to be viewed at an international world stage. In 2019 she was awarded “The National Autism Champion”. Her painting titled “Unity in Diversity Series 3” was selected by Tun Mahathir, the Prime Minister of Malaysia for the Putrajaya Sculpture at Putra Square for the country’s Independence Day celebration.
As of 10 March 2020, her story has appeared in 124 media coverage locally and internationally. Her journey has been documented in a book titled “My Journey with Artjamila, Part 1: From Nonverbal to Artistry”.
Her creation of art is purely from her soul without any formal art education and has developed a distinctive personal style in her art. She paints through her memories of events she has experienced. Jamila views the world with a joyful, cheerful and peaceful nature which is often reflected in her paintings.
