Building Dreams : Weekly Zoom Sessions with Growing Stars Students

At Alpro Foundation, our mission goes beyond providing financial aid—we aim to be a guiding force in the lives of the students we support. One of the most meaningful ways we do this is through our weekly Zoom calls with the Growing Stars Project students. These sessions have become a cornerstone of our efforts to build relationships, inspire hope, and remind these young dreamers that their aspirations are within reach.

Every week, we gather for a brief but powerful 10-15 minutes, where we connect with students, all united by one common goal: the desire to overcome financial hardships and achieve their dreams. These kids are not just students—they’re fighters, each with a unique story, and each determined to write their own success story, despite the challenges life has thrown their way.

Our weekly Zoom sessions are more than just a virtual meet-up—they’re a lifeline for these students. With the support of our dedicated teachers and passionate team members, we’ve created a space where students can open up, share their experiences, and lean on us when the going gets tough. We talk about their academic progress, but we also get to know them on a deeper level. What are their dreams? What struggles do they face? How can we help them not only stay in school but thrive?

We’ve seen students go from being shy and hesitant to speak, to opening up and sharing their dreams with confidence. One student shared her ambition to become a doctor, despite the financial struggles her family faces. Another told us about his passion for engineering, a dream he’s determined to pursue no matter the obstacles. Their stories inspire us, and in return, we offer them words of encouragement, guidance, and most importantly, unwavering support.

Perhaps the most important message we send to the students during these calls is simple: don’t give up. The road to success is rarely easy, and it’s filled with setbacks and challenges. But through these Zoom sessions, we make sure the students know that every challenge is an opportunity for growth, and every setback is a setup for a comeback.

As we continue these weekly calls, we’re not just supporting the students academically; we’re empowering them emotionally. We’re building their confidence, reinforcing their sense of self-worth, and reminding them that they have what it takes to achieve greatness. Each call is a step towards a brighter future, not just for the students, but for the communities they will one day serve as leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
